Communication Facilities
|
Communicating with family and friends at home is extremely important to mariners when they arrive in port. Telephones and internet links are provided at the Colonel's Island and East River seafarers' facilities. ISC provides free telephone links for mariners detained aboard ship. Telephone cards are sold at each seafarers' facility and, if seafarers are detained aboard ship, cards may be purchased from facility staff or volunteers.
- East River Seafarers' Facility Located at 307 Newcastle Street, this facility serves Mayor's Point and Marine Port terminal docks. It has six private telephone stations and one computer station linked to the internet. During regular hours of operation, these are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Assistance is provided. If ship-schedules or duty assignments prevent mariners from coming during its regular hours, the facility will be opened additional hours depending upon availability of staff or volunteers. Please let us know if additional hours are needed. A telephone is also provided at the Marine Port terminal dock.
- Colonel's Island Seafarers' Facility Located about 200 yards west of Berth No. 1, the facility has eight telephone cubicles and two computer stations. Outside of our regular hours, use depends upon staff and volunteer availability and prior notice; it is usually possible to accommodate a ship's schedule.
